Hosted my daughter baptism party here for 50 people. Excellent top service! Was very accommodating, easy to book, friendly, and making changes was a breeze. They took care of small things, which made the experience great for us and the guests. For example: taking away dirty plates, putting unfinished dishes in smaller dishes so that there was more room on the table, cutting and serving the cake perfectly.. these are just some examples. We ordered the family dinner set and added on Peking duck. It was very affordable and every dish was delicious! We also tried the dimsum here, and that was delicious as well. Great portions! And eyecatching! (Decorated each plate beautifully). As someone who hosts a lot of different events. I highlyyyy recommend this restaurant for your next event.

Dim sum always great here. Dumplings are tasty and above average size. Typical expected service .. not overly friendly but efficient. Prices are reasonable

Update: we tried it in the restaurant twice. I must say the quality of the food here is good. Siew Mais are the best! Har Gow, Rice Rolls and Chicken Feet are good! Char Siew Pastry has a good hint of ginger taste in it. The salted egg fish skin is the best I ever had. The black truffle mushroom dumpling is unparalleled! Boss is very friendly. I'll be back!

Came here a couple of times and I’m satisfied with the food here. I went with a group for a friends birthday and we order the 12 course dinner. My top 2 favourite dish was the duck with chips and the lobster with chow mein.

Day Date! Found ourselves @ Ryan's Chinese Restaurant aka Wah Lun. This is an unassuming restaurant, both inside & out, but omgoodness the dim sum was amazing! Having a Chinese Grandma & growing up in Vancouver I've been to my fair share of dim sum restaurants, but we always tend to get the same stuff. As it was just myself & @proud_poppa5 we decided to try mostly new dishes. We ordered the following: Deep Fried Shrimp Puree Dumpling - These dumplings were huge! They had so much shrimp filling & they were not greasy at all. They had a great crunch to them & the sweet sauce was a nice accompaniment. Deep Fried Squid w/Peppery Salt - This dish is actually one we always order & this place does it fantastically! The squid was perfectly cooked with a nice light crunchy batter. The chilli, onion, garlic mixture was delicious. We cleaned that plate if I wasn't so full I would have ordered another one. Deep Fried Taro Paste w/Portuguese Sauce - I'm not a huge fan of this dish, in other restaurants I've had it at it's always been cold. Here it was lava hot! While I'm still not 100% sold on this dish, if you're a fan of it elsewhere you'll love it here. Steamed Milky Bun w/Egg Yolk - omgoodness, I could not stop eating these! These were the best I have ever had & even better than some of the fancy dim sum restaurants. The bun was very light & melted in your mouth. The egg yolk was a little sweet & a little salty & oh so delicious! Rice Flour Rolls w/Crispy Bean Curd & Fish Paste - this was our final dish & unfortunately I was full at that point to fully enjoy & appreciate it. I did love the different textures of this dish. The smooth rice roll, the crunchy bean curd & the fluffy savoury fish paste. The service was quick & courteous, somewhat typical for a dim sum place. The prices are very reasonable, although they do charge 2 for tea & hot water. Definitely a hidden gem that I would visit again. Maybe next time we'll bring the family. @inspiringfoodie

I’m a 80’s baby and I swear this was one of the first Chinese restaurants in North Burnaby. Could have sworn they were called “Dragon” something before re-branding. They have obviously changed several owners since and seemed to have revived this throwback joint. I always thought this was one of those hit and miss places, you know those half Chinese half Canadian menu types. Since being back in Vancouver I’ve seen the parking lot packed with cars and patrons hanging out in droves around front ( especially the weekends ) So what the hell, let’s do this. The staple tester for me in sweet and sour pork. If they can do this right then you know you got a winner. So surprised because the pork was crispy, flavourful and not dark ( meaning they used new / clean oil) Super generous portions and also big bite sized. Let’s just say I’ll be back!

I've eaten at Ryan's and now at Jade Palace. I don't understand the negative reviews. The place is better looking. Portion sizes are bigger and prices and quality are higher. The waitresses at Ryan's were nice but not much different from the ones now. The hargau was quite good, big pieces with a thin wrapper, overflowing with shrimp and with no fillers. The baked bun were sweet light with finely minced pork. I ordered special chow mein and cod with tofu hot pot for take out and they were quite good. Kitchen was sanitary, so I don't understand the accusation of food poisoning. If it were real, they should have called coastal health as I've done with another restaurant in the past. The truffle mushroom dumpling was exceptional and one of the best vegan dishes I ever tried. It's a lot better than the biased reviews make it out to be.
